Eat Stop Eat - The Weight Loss Solution Which Won't Make You Fat

If you've been on many diets, and are fatter than you were before you started, there may be a solution. Nutritionist Brad Pilon's Eat Stop Eat program reveals why you're putting on more weight with every diet, and offers a solution.

Eat Stop Eat works for many people because essentially you stop eating for short periods of time: 24 hours, once or twice a week.

1. The Eat Stop Eat Program Isn't for Everyone

If the thought of going without food for 24 hours worries you, you'll be relieved to know that this is actually a very healthy way of eating. It gives your digestive system a rest, and allows your body to repair itself.

However if you have health problems or are feeding a baby, then this isn't a diet program for you.

2. The Insulin Dilemma: Insulin Grows Your Fat Stores

The problem with many diets, especially those which ask you to eat five small meals a day, is that you're constantly releasing insulin to deal with all this food. According to Brad Pilon, insulin plus calories equals an increase in body fat. Rather than using the calories you're eating for energy, your body stores them as fat.

However when you're fasting, there are no spikes in insulin and your body burns fat.

3. Can You Fast for 24 Hours Once a Week?

The diet promoted in Eat Stop Eat is called intermittent fasting. This means that you fast for 24 hours once or twice a week. Your first 24 hours without food may be difficult. This is because we all expect to eat at certain hours of the day -- eating has become a habit.

Therefore it's best to choose a day for your first fast on which you're very busy: a workday. Most people who try intermittent fasting find that they get much more done on their fasting days. All the calories which would normally be used for digestion are available for energy.

Intermittent fasting works for many people. However as with all diets, you should see your doctor before you start.

How much weight can you lose on the Eat Stop Eat weight loss system? It's not uncommon to lose 10 to 20 pounds in a month. If you'd been on many diets and have put on more pounds with each one, this may be the solution for you.
