Eating For Weight Loss - Is Eating One Meal a Day For Weight Loss a Good Idea Or Not?

Confused About Eating To Drop Weight?

When it comes to weight loss many people know that the less calories you eat the more weight you lose. However some people take this to extremes and think that if they start eating one meal a day for weight loss they will drop the extra weight faster. However this is not a good idea and can often lead to your metabolism slowing down and your weight holding steady.

Why Does This Happen?

Your body has a natural ability to protect itself from a lot of damaging behaviors and outside forces. One of the protective actions is the ability to adjust your metabolism to a lower level to avoid starvation and preserve what little energy you have. To sum it up your body will slow your metabolism down when eat less food in order to make the food last. A slower metabolism is a bad thing for anyone trying to lose weight.

So How Should I Eat To Lose Weight?

One of the best methods is to increase the frequency that you eat but not the amount of food. Eating more frequent meals helps to jump start your bodies metabolism and burn more calories. As an example if you eat and apple at lunch you may only eat half at lunch then the other half an hour or two later. Same amount of food just spread out a little bit more!

Is There Any Way To Make This Method Work Faster?

You can take this method one step further by doing something called calorie shifting which will confuse your body more and further increase your bodies metabolism. Calorie shifting is basically altering the amount of calories you eat per day, some days you eat more some less. This constant shift will really help to get your body burning more energy and has been a proven way for many people to start slimming down.
